The KORSSIA family lived in Marseille at 14 quai du Port. The father, Jaya, was deported on convoy 52. The mother, Tamar, was arrested at the train station, Gare de l'Est, in Marseilles. Six of her eight children were arrested in La Destrousse, near Marseilles. Five of them were deported on convoy 77 of July 31, 1944. Only Paulette, age 13, escaped the arrest. Gabrielle, 14, Simone, 9, Mireille, 8, Claude-André, 5, and Elise, 3, died, along with their mother. The two youngest children were born in Marseille; the rest were born in Oran, Algeria. The Mayor's office in La Destrousse has put up a commemorative plaque in their name.
